Customer Case Histories
Geotechnical examples

This is a collection of various cases where the 2D resistivity imaging method pioneered by Advanced Geosciences Inc have been successfully applied. Click on a section below and you will be shown a full 2D resistivity imaging brochure detailing the case in question.
Acknowledgement:
These cases have been submitted by satisfied customers whom we thank for permission to publish their data on the web. Each detailed broschure will have a citation for the source of the data.

bridge subside

Electrical Resistivity Imaging Survey at a Subsiding Highway Bridge
GTS Technologies in Harrisburg Pennsylvania used the AGI SuperSting R8 and the EarthImager 2D software to investigate the cause of a subsiding bridge pier at a 4-lane highway bridge.

bridge foundation

3D Resistivity Survey to Determine Cause of Subsidence at a Residence
A 3D pole-pole resistivity survey was performed in order to determine the cause of subsidence at a residence in Florida.

bridge foundation

Bridge foundation investigation
In this survey the company, GTS Technologies in Pennsylvania, used the sidelooking capability of the electrical resistivity imaging technique to investigate the foundation of an old bridge pier, by placing a 2D array of electrodes 2 meter to the side of the pier.

Big size brochure

Tunnel site investigation using resistivity imaging
This highway tunnel construction was hindered by a large weak zone of clay and soft limestone easily visible in the resistivity imaging profile.

sewer_pipe

Using resistivity imaging for detection of a sewer pipe line.
A buried sewer pipe was detected using resistivity imaging.

horizontal_drilling

Using resistivity imaging for horizontal drilling site investigation.
This survey was done to find a suitable depth for installing cables and pipe lines.
AGI resistivity imaging turned out to produce the correct answers.

The geophysical instruments used in the resistivity imaging cases described here are the AGI SuperSting R8/IP earth resistivity meter and the AGI Sting R1 earth resistivity meter together with the AGI Swift multi electrode cables and smart switches.
These make up systems with extremely fast data acquisition in the field.
Today the single-channel Sting R1 has been replaced by the even faster and more accurate instrument:
SuperSting R8/IP
The interpretation of data like this can be done using the 2D inversion program AGI EarthImager 2D available from AGI.
